Even as a law student doing my practical training at a law firm, the principal solicitor would come to me and say: "what else have you got up your sleeve for them (ie the other side)?" and in my first three years I ended a credit dispute matter that had been going for 5 years, and settled two matters against regional councils (one with the help of counsel) and a complex family law matter (with counsel).
